This Is How We Did It

Ok, so Julie makes fun of me every week for my mistakes.  This week I am going to try very hard to cross my i's and dot my t's (hee hee).  First, our hearts and prayers go out to the people who have been devastated by the recent tornadoes.  Julie is packing up all of the clothes she had for sale in her studio and sending them to Joplin.  Only a small thing, but I will go home and pack up some of my kids clothes and send those too.  Hopefully we can all help in some small way. 

This is going to sound very much like last week.  Our special went out for our "Hip to be Square" and "I Love You" blocks.  Tracy Raver was kind enough to allow us to use another one of her images for the special.  Here it is:

 

Again, Tracy is so talented.  I love the simplicity of this photograph.  The clean lines and colors allow you to focus on the baby.  It is adorable.  Sometimes less is more.  We love to see how you use our items and dress them up or dress them down.  Once you get this beautiful shot you could mix it up with different hats. 

Julie spends hours going to antique markets and shops looking for unique items.  We try hard to bring these items to you so you can spend your time photographing. Enjoy!

 

This Is How We Did It

First,  a HUGE thank you to Tracy Raver from Tracy Raver Photography for taking our special picture for this week.  Those of you that live close to Omaha, Nebraska are so lucky to have such a talented photographer close by.  Here is the picture she took.  Too cute!

 

These retro couches and chairs are light weight.  The couch weighs about 28 pounds and the chair weighs about 20 pounds.  It is a perfect prop to use indoors or carry it outside.  We love how Tracy put the pink couch contrasting with the bright green grass.  What a gorgeous contrast and beautiful texture.  The couches and chairs are made of vinyl which makes them so easy to clean.  This week the special on the couches is 20% off.  Enjoy!

This Is How We Did It

I just added some new items to the website!  We have a couple of little tricks that we do when we are using our bins, buckets and boxes with a newborn.  We always weight the bottom of the box and that is usually enough if it has a flat bottom.  Sand is nice because it is heavy and soft.  That doesn't help the sides or edges, so we also use a cuddle throw or pom pom throw to soften up the edges.  Besides having these items there for the baby, we love the texture that these two items add.  In some settings, the boxes can look hard with the surface and straight lines.  These two items help add softness. 

So, if you have seen Julie's new segment on Photovision, you know she uses the heartbeat and the room heater.  The other trick, because it gets cold in Kansas (I know our Canadian friends are laughing me off the blog), we use a heating blanket under the throw.  This gives the baby a nice warm place to nestle in. 

If the box or urn is high or wobbly because of the weight of baby, we always keep one finger on it.  Julie can Photoshop us out later.  We want to keep the baby safe and mom and dad relaxed.

I won't leave you this week

I have to  apologize for not posting last week!  We were enjoying our friends at Texas School on Wednesday!  I've said it before and I'll say it again.  We are so lucky to have the greatest customers in the world.  We laughed with so many people and had such a great time.  I think 20 different people came and asked us if we wanted them to bring us a plate of food!  They wanted to bring us a plate of food!  We are so lucky. 

We also revealed some new items on at Texas School.  I always love bringing items to the show that aren't on the website.  I get just as excited as the customers.  Our This Is How We Did It this week will coordinate with our special and feature quite a few new items.  I can't wait to show you!

Please be patient with us.  Lisa, our brilliant designer, is sick.  She was sick all last week, went on antibiotics and was hospitalized with pnemonia on Saturday night.  If you're reading this Lisa....I hope you feel better!  We will be doing a little catch up this week, but I hate to toot my own horn...I'm fast!
